Imagine the Republican Freakout if Conservative Christians Were the Ones Being Discriminated Against
"What amazes me the most is that we’re seeing almost the exact same arguments people used decades ago to oppose desegregation and legalizing interracial marriage; now they’re using the same reasoning to support their unconstitutional stance against equality for members of the LGBT community. But I can’t help but think to myself, what if conservative Christians were really the ones being discriminated against? Just think about that for a moment. Many of these conservative Christians want to discriminate against homosexuals while claiming it’s all about “religious freedom,” yet these are also the same people who would claim that anyone who opposes and fights against right-wing Christian ignorance is waging “a war on Christianity.” Funny how that works, isn’t it? It’s ridiculous how many of these people seem to think it’s perfectly acceptable to fire someone because of their sexual orientation, yet these same people would blow a gasket if someone were fired because they were a Christian. The truth is, if you’re going to recognize “religious freedom,” you can’t pick and choose which of those “freedoms” you want to allow. If your religion opposes homosexuality, but mine opposes right-wing ignorance, why are your beliefs more valid than mine? Conservative media outlets like Fox News often say Christianity is under attack simply because the majority of this country is sick and tired of having someone else’s religion forced upon them. Somehow there’s a “war on Christianity” because a non-Christian – or even a Christian like myself who doesn’t subscribe to the warped distortion of my faith by conservatives - wants to be able to live their lives without having to abide by the religious beliefs of someone else.
Imagine for a second if conservative Christians were the ones really being attacked. What if businesses started denying service to them? Why is it a “war on Christianity” to support boycotts against states or businesses that oppose gay rights, but it’s “religious freedom” to support businesses that want to discriminate?"
